You won't find me teaching basic belly dance technique on this dvd because there are many good instructional materials currently on the market which more than meet that need for belly dancers. The sole purpose of this dvd is to feature working with Isis Wings exclusively.
I wanted this dvd to be useful to all belly dancers who want to perform with wings, regardless of their level of experience, so I included segments on how to put on and wear the wings, how to hold the wings and how I store my wings so they maintain their gorgeous look.
I teach what I consider to be the best arm positions for how and where to hold the wings. Also I show you some of my favorite " poses" or what could be called "backdrop looks" for framing yourself elegantly with the wings when either standing still or moving. I include combinations I use personally when belly dancing with my wings. Lastly, I perform using both standard Isis Wings and a new style of wing made exclusively by Baladi Boutique called "Dragonfire Wings so you can see how each style of wing actually looks and moves during a performance.
A SHORT HISTORY OF HOW I STARTED WORKING WITH WINGS
NECESSITY!! As all belly dancers know, we must have something in our repertoire which sets us apart from the rest of the group. My troupe members had taken all of the "good" props (sword, cane, tray, veil, etc.) for their solos in our shows, leaving me propless!!
WHY I LOVE DANCING WITH ISIS WINGS
They are a fun prop. They make me look great! Audiences are impressed if you dance with them well and I do enjoy hearing people "ooh and aah" when I dance. They add variety and "pizzaz" to any belly dance show. Different styles and fabrics change the look of the wings and I like a prop which is versatile. If you have not yet given them a try, I highly recommend doing so!
